Ingredients
- 4 slices Sourdough bread
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 c milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 4 slices thick-cut sliced ham
- 4 slices of turkey
- 2 tbsp Ayoh! Foods Mayo
- 4 slices Cheese Brothers Gouda Cheese
Think of this Monte Cristo as a French toast-meets-grilled cheese masterpiece. It’s got everything: crispy, buttery bread, melted gouda, smoky ham and turkey, and a jam that brings in the perfect balance of heat and sweetness. With that signature golden crust, each bite is equal parts savory and slightly sweet.
But the real twist? A bacon-berry hot pepper jam that adds just the right amount of spice. Topped with powdered sugar, it’s the kind of sandwich that’s rich, flavorful, and impossible to put down. Perfect for brunch, dinner, or any time you’re craving something that’s next level.
Instructions:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Cut the sourdough bread into 4, ½ inch slices. Add 1 tbsp mayo each to 2 slices and 1 tbsp mustard each to remaining 2 slices.
- Assemble the sandwiches by adding a layer of 1 slice sourdough, sliced cheese, then ham and turkey and another layer of cheese. Top with the other bread slice. Repeat with the remaining bread slices, cheese, ham, and turkey.
- In a wide but shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla. Place the sandwich in the egg mixture and let it sit for a minute. Then flip the sandwich over and let it sit for an additional minute, soaking up the egg mixture.
- Add butter to the skillet and carefully remove the sandwich from the egg mixture, allowing excess to fall off.
- Add the sandwich to the skillet and cook until browned and the cheese melts, about 2 to 3 minutes each side.
- Top with powdered sugar and serve with the Berry Bacon Hot Pepper Jam.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
